ARCNET Product Information
COM20020 Family (COM20020, COM20020-5, COM20022, COM20023,
COM20019, COM20010)
The COM20020 Universal Local Area Network Controller is a basic 8-bit network
controller for ARCNET protocol, supporting a wide variety of physical media
and range of speed.
COM20051 FAMILY (COM20051, COM20051+)
The COM20051 is a COM20010 ULANC paired with the 8051 microcontroller on a
single chip. This product offers the network controller and a host controller
in one package.
COM90C66 FAMILY (COM90C66, COM90C65, COM90C165)
This family of network controllers supports ARCNET standard physical medium
and offers the ISA bus interface.
The above network controllers chips can be tested and demo'ed
using the following board level products:
- EVB-PC20020 for the COM20020 and COM20020-5
- EVB-PC20022 for the COM20022
- EVB-PC20019 for the COM20019
- EVB-20051 for the COM20051 and COM20051+
- EVB90C66 for the COM90C66
These boards use specific PALs for the bus interface and
for the RS-485 transceiver. The JEDEC files for these PALs
are available:
- RS485PAL.ZIP - ZIP file (design + JEDEC) for the RS-485
transceiver for the EVB-PC20020 and EVB-20051 boards
- PC20020_.JED - JEDEC file for the ISA bus pal for the EVB-PC20020
SMSC offers the software products for demonstration, test
and development based on the COM20020, COM20051 and COM90C66
families:
- CONTROLINK 86 - ANSI/IEEE 802.2 Compliant Data Link Layer
Software for the COM20020 installed on a PC platform
- DEMOAT - Demonstration software for the EVB-PC20020
- SW20051 - Demonstration software for the EVB-20051
- TMCODI - ODI Driver for NetWare 3.x
