SMSC is a global, fabless semiconductor company serving a diversified set of applications in the consumer electronics, automotive infotainment, computing and industrial markets. The Company develops semi-custom and application specific standard products that allow users to access or transfer their digital assets with convenience and speed. SMSC has developed leadership positions in providing analog/mixed signal solutions to many of the world’s leading OEMs and ODMs, through products employing one or more of the following technologies: Ethernet, ARCNET, MOST®, Hi-Speed USB or various analog sensors and transceivers. Products include USB 2.0 hubs and mass storage devices, embedded controllers and companion devices, Ethernet and embedded networking devices, networking co-processors and in-vehicle interface controllers optimized to deliver high bandwidth entertainment and navigation content.

Locations

SMSC's marketing, customer support, operations and administrative staff are based in Hauppauge, Long Island, New York. Our engineering design centers are located in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona; Hauppauge, New York; Austin, Texas; Karlsruhe, Germany; Göteborg, Sweden; and Chennai, India. SMSC also has a marketing and customer support site in San Jose, California, as well as international operations in Seoul, Korea; Shanghai, China; Tokyo, Japan; Taipei, Taiwan; Hong Kong; and Rosenheim, Germany.

Workforce

SMSC currently employs approximately 850 employees worldwide with 440 based on Long Island.

Benefits

We offer a wide range of insurance benefits including health care (medical, dental and vision plans), life insurance and long-term disability coverages. A 401(k) retirement savings plan offering various investment options is also available. All employees accrue a certain number of vacation days per year depending on length of service. Non-exempt employees earn personal leave days (approximately 2 weeks' time) based upon hours worked per year while exempt employees are provided non-restricted sick leave subject to management's approval. Stock options are offered for exempt-level positions and some positions are bonus eligible. All employees and their families are provided access to the confidential services of an outside employee assistance program (EAP).
