The use of Ethernet as a method for connectivity has started to migrate
from backbone communication and office networks to the home, driven by
heavy penetration of home broadband Internet connectivity and personal
computers. Home networking traditionally only covered linking together
multiple PCs, printers, and the Internet. More recently, the concept
of increasing the types of home devices that can be networked together
has become a popular theme of PC, set-top box, PVR (personal video recorder),
HDTV, game console, and digital media player makers. Many companies are
developing ways to enjoy and share multimedia content delivered from

Universal Serial Bus or USB has been very successful in its replacement of
standard serial interfaces. USB now represents 70% of the serial interface
